What she did to turn away the LORD's wrath: CUT OFF HER SON'S FORESKIN WITH A FLINT
The words she spoke over Moses: A BRIDEGROOM OF BLOOD TO ME
The subject was one of the seven daughters of Jethro, priest of Midian. When Moses fled from Egypt and drove off the shepherds who troubled them at the well, their father received him, and gave the subject to him as wife.
She bore Moses two sons, Gershom and Eliezer, in the years he kept Jethro's flock in the land of Midian.
As they journeyed back to Egypt at God's call, the LORD met Moses at a lodging place and sought to put him to death, for his son had not been circumcised. The subject took a flint, circumcised her son, and touched Moses with it.
She said, Surely you are a bridegroom of blood to me, and the LORD let him alone. By her swift act the deliverer was spared to carry out his mission.
Afterward Moses sent her and the two sons back to her father for a season, and Jethro brought them to him at the mountain of God, where they were reunited as Israel camped before Sinai.
