What Amnon did after his crime: HATED HER AND CAST HER OUT
What she tore in her grief: THE ROBE OF MANY COLORS OF THE KING'S DAUGHTERS
The subject was a beautiful daughter of David and full sister of Absalom. Her half-brother Amnon, David's firstborn, was consumed with desire for her.
On the advice of a crafty friend, Amnon feigned illness and asked the king to send the subject to prepare food for him in his house.
When she came and served him, he seized her, and though she pleaded with him not to do this outrageous thing in Israel, and begged him to ask the king for her instead, he overpowered and violated her.
Then, his desire turned to loathing, he hated her more than he had loved her, and had her thrown out and the door bolted, though her disgrace was now greater still.
She tore her royal robe, put ashes on her head, and went away crying aloud. Absalom took her into his house, where she lived desolate; the king was angry but did nothing, and Absalom nursed a hatred that would lead him to kill Amnon and, at length, to revolt.

- The Lord's record honors the wronged and does not hide their pain.
- Lust that seizes what it wants soon curdles into contempt.
- Sin left unaddressed by those in authority festers into greater ruin.
