What he shouted as David fled: GET OUT, YOU MAN OF BLOOD
Why Solomon finally had him killed: HE CROSSED THE KIDRON AGAINST HIS OATH
The subject was a Benjamite of Saul's house who came out as David fled from Absalom, cursing him, throwing stones and dust, and calling him a man of blood who was now repaid for the house of Saul.
Abishai wanted to cut off his head, but David restrained him, saying to let him curse, for the LORD had told him to, and perhaps the LORD would look on his affliction and repay him with good.
When David returned in triumph after the revolt was crushed, the subject hurried down to meet him, fell before him, and begged forgiveness, and David swore he would not put him to death.
Yet on his deathbed David charged Solomon to deal wisely with the subject, not holding him guiltless, for he was a shrewd man who had cursed the LORD's anointed.
Solomon confined the subject to Jerusalem on pain of death, and he agreed. But after three years, chasing runaway servants, he crossed the Kidron to Gath and back. Solomon summoned him, recalled his oath and his cursing of David, and had him put to death.
