Terms of Hannah's vow: GIVEN TO THE LORD ALL HIS DAYS
Identity of the next anointed: DAVID OF BETHLEHEM
The subject was born to Hannah after years of barrenness and earnest prayer. Dedicated to the LORD, he was brought as a child to serve at the tabernacle in Shiloh under Eli the priest.
The LORD called the subject by name in the night. He became established as a prophet, and all Israel knew that the word of the LORD was with him. He judged Israel and called the nation to return to the LORD.
When the people demanded a king like the nations, the subject warned them of the cost, then anointed Saul at the LORD's direction. When Saul disobeyed, the subject declared that obedience is better than sacrifice.
Sent to Bethlehem, the subject anointed David, the youngest son of Jesse, for the LORD looks not on the outward appearance but on the heart. The Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day.
The subject judged and interceded for Israel all his days. He died and was mourned by all Israel and buried at Ramah.
