Their trade, shared with Paul: TENTMAKERS, AS HE ALSO WAS
What Paul said they risked for him: THEY RISKED THEIR OWN NECKS FOR MY LIFE
The pair were a married couple, Jews expelled from Rome by the emperor's decree, who came to Corinth. Paul found them there and, being of the same trade as tentmakers, stayed and worked with them.
When Paul left for Ephesus, they went with him and remained there. They became fellow workers with him in Christ Jesus, and a church met in their house.
When the eloquent Apollos came teaching accurately but knowing only the baptism of John, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately, quietly building up a gifted preacher.
Paul wrote that they had risked their own necks for his life, and that not only he but all the churches of the Gentiles were grateful to them.
Wherever they went, in Corinth, Ephesus, and Rome, they opened their home to the gathering of believers, a steady, hospitable pair whose partnership served the mission of the gospel.
