How Paul asked Rome to receive her: IN THE LORD IN A WAY WORTHY OF THE SAINTS, AND HELP HER IN WHATEVER SHE NEEDS
What she had been to many: A PATRON OF MANY AND OF PAUL HIMSELF
The subject was a servant of the church at Cenchreae, the eastern port of Corinth. Paul commended her to the believers at Rome as a sister and a faithful worker in the gospel.
By long custom it was the subject who carried Paul's letter to the Romans, the great epistle of the faith, entrusted to her hand for the journey across the sea to the imperial city.
Paul asked the Roman church to welcome her in the Lord in a manner worthy of the saints and to help her in whatever she might need, for she had been a patron of many.
She had been a benefactor to Paul himself and to many others, using her means and her standing to support the work of the gospel and to shelter its servants.
Though only two verses name her, the subject stands as an honored deaconess and helper, a woman whose quiet service carried the words of grace to the heart of the Roman world.
