The lie he believed against Joseph: HIS WIFE'S FALSE CHARGE OF ASSAULT
The subject was an Egyptian officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, who bought Joseph from the Ishmaelites who had brought him down to Egypt.
The LORD was with Joseph, and the subject saw that all he did prospered in his hand. He made Joseph overseer of his house and put everything he had into his charge.
For Joseph's sake the LORD blessed the subject's house and all that he owned, in the house and in the field, so that he had no concern about anything but the food he ate.
But the subject's wife pursued Joseph day after day, and when he refused to sin against God, she seized his garment as he fled and used it to accuse him falsely of assault.
The subject, hearing her charge, was angry and put Joseph in the prison where the king's prisoners were confined. Yet even there the LORD was with Joseph, and the master's loss became the beginning of the path that would raise Joseph to save many.
