Edom's sin: YOU STOOD ALOOF WHILE STRANGERS PLUNDERED YOUR BROTHER
The final word: THE KINGDOM SHALL BE THE LORD'S
The subject received a vision concerning Edom, the nation descended from Esau, brother of Jacob, who dwelt proudly in the clefts of the rocks and thought no one could bring them down.
The LORD declared that Edom's pride had deceived them, and though they soared like the eagle and set their nest among the stars, He would bring them down.
Their guilt was that they stood aloof, and even gloated and looted, on the day disaster fell on their brother Judah and Jerusalem was plundered.
The prophet warned that as they had done, it would be done to them; their deeds would return on their own head, in the day of the LORD that is near upon all nations.
Yet on Mount Zion there would be deliverance, and the house of Jacob would possess its inheritance, for the kingdom would belong to the LORD. His is the shortest book of prophecy.
