Meaning of the dry bones: THESE BONES ARE THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL
The promised heart: A HEART OF FLESH FOR A HEART OF STONE
By the river Chebar among the exiles, the subject saw the heavens opened: a stormy wind, living creatures, wheels within wheels, and above them the likeness of a throne and the glory of the LORD. He fell on his face.
The subject was made a watchman for the house of Israel, given a scroll to eat that was sweet as honey, and sent to a rebellious people whether they would hear or refuse. He enacted his messages through many signs.
He foretold and then confirmed the fall of Jerusalem, and saw in vision the glory of the LORD departing from the temple. On the day the city fell, his own wife died, and he was forbidden to mourn as a sign to the people.
In the valley full of dry bones, the subject prophesied, and the bones came together, were covered with flesh, and lived by the breath of the LORD, a sign that God would open the graves of exiled Israel and restore them.
The subject promised a new covenant: God would give his people a new heart and put his Spirit within them. He was shown a vision of a restored temple from which a river flowed, and a city whose name is, The LORD Is There.
