Remarks:

As a girl, the subject watched over her infant brother Moses among the reeds of the Nile, and boldly offered to fetch a Hebrew nurse, bringing their own mother to raise him in Pharaoh's house.

After the crossing of the sea, the subject, called a prophetess, took a timbrel, and all the women followed with timbrels and dancing. She led them: Sing to the LORD, for he has triumphed gloriously.

The subject was named with Moses and Aaron as one the LORD sent before Israel. Yet she and Aaron once spoke against Moses, questioning his unique standing before God.

For this presumption the subject was struck with leprosy, white as snow. Moses interceded for her, and after seven days shut outside the camp she was restored, the whole people waiting for her.

The subject died at Kadesh in the wilderness and was buried there. The prophets remembered her among the leaders the LORD sent to bring Israel up from Egypt.
