What he brought to Abraham: BREAD AND WINE
The subject appears without introduction as king of Salem and priest of God Most High. After Abraham's rescue of Lot from the war of the kings, he came out to meet the returning patriarch.
The subject brought out bread and wine and blessed Abraham, saying, Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth, and blessed be God Most High who delivered his enemies into his hand.
Abraham gave him a tenth of everything, the greater blessing the lesser. The subject then departs the narrative as abruptly as he entered, without recorded death.
A psalm of David later declares of the coming king, You are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek, joining kingship and priesthood in one figure.
Later witnesses draw the type to its fullness: without recorded father, mother, or genealogy, resembling the Son of God, the subject prefigures a priesthood that does not pass away.
