What Peter did to him in the garden: STRUCK OFF HIS RIGHT EAR WITH A SWORD
What Jesus did in reply: TOUCHED HIS EAR AND HEALED HIM
The subject was a servant of the high priest, among the band that came with torches, lanterns, and weapons to arrest Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane.
When they came forward to seize the Lord, Simon Peter drew a sword and struck the subject, cutting off his right ear.
But Jesus said, No more of this, and told Peter to put away his sword, for those who take the sword will perish by it, and that He could call on legions of angels if He wished.
Then He touched the ear of the subject and healed him, restoring what the sword had cut away, even as He was being taken to be condemned.
So the last healing before the cross was shown to an enemy who had come to arrest Him, a sign of the mercy of the One who would soon pray for those who crucified Him.
