What she said at Judah's birth: THIS TIME I WILL PRAISE THE LORD
From her line came: THE PRIESTHOOD AND THE KINGS
The subject was the elder daughter of Laban, given to Jacob by a wedding-night deception in place of her sister Rachel, whom Jacob loved. Jacob served seven more years for Rachel.
When the LORD saw that the subject was unloved, He opened her womb while Rachel was barren. She bore sons, hoping with each that her husband would love her.
At the birth of her fourth son she ceased striving for affection and said, This time I will praise the LORD, and named him Judah, meaning praise.
In all she bore six of the twelve tribes, including Levi, from whom came the priesthood, and Judah, from whom came the kings and the Messiah.
The subject was buried in the cave of Machpelah with the patriarchs, and Jacob was laid beside her there; a woman once overlooked stands at the head of the royal and priestly lines.
