Content of the divine answer: QUESTIONS BEYOND KNOWING
The subject was blameless and upright, the greatest man of the east, blessed with a large family and great wealth. In the divine council, the accuser charged that his devotion was only for gain.
Permitted to test him, the accuser stripped the subject of his flocks, servants, and all ten children in a single day. The subject worshiped, saying, The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.
Afflicted with painful sores from head to foot, the subject sat in ashes. His wife urged him to curse God and die; he refused. Three friends came and insisted his suffering must be punishment for hidden sin.
The subject maintained his integrity and longed for a redeemer who would stand at last upon the earth. Out of the whirlwind the LORD answered, not with explanations but with the vastness of creation and his own unsearchable wisdom.
