How the battle was won: THEY SANG PRAISE AND THE LORD SET AMBUSHES
The subject, son of Asa, walked in the ways of David and sought the God of his father. The LORD established the kingdom in his hand, and he had great riches and honor.
He sent officials and Levites throughout Judah with the Book of the Law to teach the people, and the fear of the LORD fell on the surrounding lands.
When a vast coalition of Moab, Ammon, and others came against him, the subject was afraid and set himself to seek the LORD, proclaiming a fast. He prayed, We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.
The LORD answered through a Levite: the battle was not theirs but God's. They went out singing praise, and the LORD set ambushes so the enemies destroyed one another; Judah gathered spoil for three days.
The subject was faithful, though he faltered in alliances with the wicked house of Ahab. He strengthened the courts of justice and died in peace, buried with the kings in the City of David.
