The name that distinguishes him: JAMES THE LESS, SON OF ALPHAEUS
What Scripture records of his deeds: LITTLE, YET HE WAS CHOSEN BY THE LORD
The subject is named in every list of the twelve apostles as James the son of Alphaeus, to distinguish him from James the son of Zebedee and James the brother of the Lord.
He is thought to be the one called James the Less, perhaps because he was younger or shorter of stature, his mother among the women who watched at the cross.
Scripture records no words of his and no single deed set apart under his name.
Yet he was chosen by the Lord Himself, sent out with authority to preach and to heal, and gathered with the others in the upper room to wait for the Spirit.
His hidden life is a reminder that the church rests not only on its famous names but on faithful, unremembered servants who labored and bore witness without acclaim.
EYES ONLYRestricted // Sacred Record
- The Lord calls and uses many whose deeds are never recorded by name.
- Faithfulness, not fame, is what marks a true servant of Christ.
- The kingdom rests on countless hidden laborers as well as its known ones.
