What Paul asked him directly: KING AGRIPPA, DO YOU BELIEVE THE PROPHETS?
His reply that stopped short of faith: IN A SHORT TIME YOU WOULD PERSUADE ME
The subject was the last king of the Herodian line, ruling over northern territories, who came with his sister Bernice to greet the new governor Festus at Caesarea.
Festus, at a loss over Paul's case, laid it before the subject, who was familiar with the customs and questions of the Jews and wished to hear the prisoner himself.
With great pomp Paul was brought in, and he told the king of his upbringing, his conversion on the road to Damascus, and his preaching that the Christ must suffer and rise, and be a light to Jew and Gentile.
Paul appealed to him directly, King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know that you believe. And the subject answered, In a short time would you persuade me to be a Christian?
Paul replied that he wished before God that whether in short or long time, not only the king but all who heard him might become as he was, except for his chains. The subject rose, agreeing Paul had done nothing worthy of death, and might have been freed had he not appealed to Caesar; but he himself came near the faith and stopped short.

- To be almost persuaded is still to be finally lost.
- Knowledge of the truth is not the same as surrender to it.
- There is a danger in coming near to Christ and then turning away.
