How Paul described his praying: ALWAYS STRUGGLING ON YOUR BEHALF IN HIS PRAYERS
What he prayed for them: THAT YOU MAY STAND MATURE AND FULLY ASSURED IN ALL THE WILL OF GOD
The subject was a native of Colossae and, by Paul's account, the one from whom the believers there had learned the gospel, a beloved fellow servant and a faithful minister of Christ on their behalf.
It was he who had made known to Paul the Colossians' love in the Spirit, carrying word of their faith to the apostle and, it seems, planting the churches of the Lycus Valley at Colossae, Laodicea, and Hierapolis.
Paul bore witness that the subject worked hard for these churches and was always struggling on their behalf in his prayers, wrestling that they might stand mature and fully assured in all the will of God.
In the letter to Philemon, Paul names the subject as his fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus, one who shared the cost of the gospel and the confinement of the apostle.
The record holds him up as a model of intercession and faithful care, a minister who labored less in the sight of men than on his knees for the people God had given him.
