What his tongue was likened to: A SHARP RAZOR, WORKING DECEIT
What God would do to such a man: BREAK HIM DOWN AND UPROOT HIM FOREVER
The subject was an Edomite, chief of the herdsmen of Saul, who happened to be at Nob detained before the LORD on the day David came to Ahimelech the priest for bread and a sword.
He saw all that passed, and afterward, when Saul complained that no one had told him of David, the subject stepped forward and reported what the priest had done, casting it as conspiracy.
Saul summoned the priests and condemned them, but when his own guards refused to strike the LORD's priests, the subject obeyed the king and turned his sword on them.
He killed eighty-five men who wore the linen ephod, then struck the whole town of Nob, men, women, children, and livestock, sparing none but the one who escaped.
David, learning of it, said he had known the subject would surely tell Saul, and took upon himself the guilt of the priests' deaths. He wrote a psalm against the subject, denouncing the man who boasted of evil and loved lies, whose tongue was a sharp razor, and whom God would break down forever.
EYES ONLYRestricted // Sacred Record
- A tongue used to inform and destroy is a razor in the hand of evil.
- Blind obedience to a wicked command shares fully in its guilt.
- Those who boast in mischief will be uprooted by the God they defy.
