Remarks:

The subject, a prophetess, judged Israel in the days when Jabin of Hazor oppressed them. She sat beneath a palm tree in the hill country of Ephraim, and the people came up to her for judgment.

The subject summoned Barak and delivered the LORD's command to march against Sisera, the commander of Jabin's army. Barak agreed only if she would go with him, and she consented, foretelling that the honor would fall to a woman.

At the LORD's word the enemy was routed by the waters of the Kishon; Sisera fled on foot and was slain by Jael in her tent. So God subdued the king of Canaan before Israel.

The subject and Barak sang a song of victory, recounting the deliverance and blessing those tribes that came to the help of the LORD, and rebuking those that stayed away.

The subject called herself a mother in Israel. Under her judgeship the land had rest forty years.
