What he cried, though many rebuked him: JESUS, SON OF DAVID, HAVE MERCY ON ME
What Jesus said made him well: YOUR FAITH HAS HEALED YOU
The subject was a blind man, son of Timaeus, who sat begging by the roadside as Jesus left Jericho with a great crowd.
Hearing that Jesus of Nazareth was passing, he began to cry out, Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me, using the title of the promised King.
Many rebuked him and told him to be silent, but he cried out all the more, Son of David, have mercy on me.
Jesus stopped and called for him. Throwing off his cloak, the subject sprang up and came, and Jesus asked what he wanted. He answered, Rabbi, let me recover my sight.
Jesus said, Go your way; your faith has made you well. Immediately he recovered his sight and followed Jesus on the way, a picture of the one who, seeing at last, becomes a disciple.
