What she did on her son's death: KILLED ALL THE ROYAL HEIRS SHE COULD FIND
Her cry when Joash was revealed: TREASON, TREASON
The subject was the daughter of Ahab and Jezebel, married into the house of David to seal an alliance, and she brought the idolatry of her family into Judah. Her son Ahaziah walked in the ways of the house of Ahab.
When Jehu killed Ahaziah, the subject arose and destroyed all the royal offspring of the house of Judah, seeking to wipe out the line of David and seize the throne for herself.
But Jehosheba, the king's daughter, stole away the infant Joash from among the princes about to be murdered, and hid him with his nurse in the house of the LORD for six years while the subject reigned.
In the seventh year the priest Jehoiada brought out the boy, crowned him, and proclaimed him king, and the guards and people rejoiced. Hearing the noise, the subject came into the temple and cried, Treason, treason.
Jehoiada ordered her taken out and not slain in the house of the LORD; she was put to death at the horses' entrance of the palace. So the line of David was preserved through the one child she had failed to kill.
EYES ONLYRestricted // Sacred Record
- No power on earth can finally destroy the promise God has sworn to keep.
- Hatred that murders to seize a throne cannot outlast God's covenant.
- God preserves His purposes through the single life the enemy overlooks.
