Remarks:

The subject, elder brother of Moses and a Levite, was appointed to be his mouthpiece before Pharaoh, for Moses protested that he was slow of speech. His rod became a serpent and swallowed those of the magicians.

The subject stood with Moses through the plagues and the Exodus, and his hands were held up with Hur's during the battle with Amalek. He was consecrated with his sons as priests to minister to the LORD.

While Moses was on the mountain, the people pressed the subject, who made a golden calf; for this he was rebuked, though the priesthood was not taken from him. He was installed as the first high priest, bearing Israel's names on his breastpiece.

When Korah and others contested the priesthood, the LORD confirmed the subject's office: his rod alone budded, blossomed, and bore almonds. He also made atonement with incense to stay a plague among the people.

For the failure at the waters of Meribah, the subject was not permitted to enter Canaan. He died on Mount Hor, his garments passing to his son Eleazar, and all Israel mourned him thirty days.
