What Jesus offered her at the well: LIVING WATER, WELLING UP TO ETERNAL LIFE
What she told her whole town: COME, SEE A MAN WHO TOLD ME ALL I EVER DID
Wearied from His journey, Jesus sat by Jacob's well near Sychar in Samaria while His disciples went for food. A woman of the town came to draw water, and He asked her for a drink, though Jews had no dealings with Samaritans.
He offered her living water, so that whoever drank of it would never thirst again, but have a spring welling up to eternal life; and she asked for this water that she might not have to keep coming to the well.
When He told her to call her husband, she said she had none, and He revealed that she had had five husbands and the man she now had was not her husband, and she perceived He was a prophet.
They spoke of true worship, in spirit and truth, not bound to a mountain or a temple, and when she spoke of the coming Messiah, Jesus said plainly, I who speak to you am He.
Leaving her water jar, she went to the town and said, Come, see a man who told me all that I ever did; can this be the Christ? Many Samaritans believed because of her word, and after Jesus stayed two days, many more believed and said He was truly the Savior of the world.
