The oracle she received: THE OLDER SHALL SERVE THE YOUNGER
Her answer at the well: I WILL GO
Abraham's servant, seeking a wife for Isaac, prayed for a sign at a well: that the right woman would offer to draw water for him and his camels. The subject came and did exactly so.
Asked whether she would go with the servant to a land she had never seen, to marry a man she had never met, the subject answered simply, I will go. She was brought to Isaac, who loved her.
Barren for years, she conceived after Isaac's prayer. The children struggled within her, and when she inquired of the LORD she was told that two nations were in her womb, and the older would serve the younger.
She bore Esau and Jacob. Favoring Jacob, she devised the plan by which he obtained the blessing intended for Esau, and then sent him away to her brother to escape Esau's anger.
The subject was buried in the cave of Machpelah with the patriarchs. Through her son Jacob the covenant line continued.
