Why Ahab hated to summon him: HE NEVER PROPHESIES GOOD ABOUT ME
His vow before he ever spoke: WHAT THE LORD SAYS, THAT I WILL SPEAK
When Ahab of Israel and Jehoshaphat of Judah planned to go up against Ramoth-gilead, four hundred prophets promised victory. But Jehoshaphat asked if there was yet a prophet of the LORD to inquire of.
Ahab named the subject, son of Imlah, saying he hated him, for he never prophesied good about him, only evil. Still he was summoned, and the messenger urged him to agree with the others.
The subject answered that whatever the LORD said to him, that he would speak. At first he mockingly echoed the false prophets, but pressed to speak the truth, he told of Israel scattered on the hills like sheep without a shepherd.
He revealed a vision of the LORD on His throne, sending a lying spirit into the mouths of Ahab's prophets to entice him to fall at Ramoth-gilead. For this Zedekiah the false prophet struck him, and Ahab had him imprisoned on bread and water.
The subject declared that if Ahab returned safely, the LORD had not spoken by him, and called all to take note. Ahab went to battle in disguise, but a random arrow found him, and he died, and the word of the subject stood.
EYES ONLYRestricted // Sacred Record
- Speak the truth God gives, though every other voice says otherwise.
- A crowd of agreeable voices is no proof that they speak for God.
- The word of the Lord stands, whatever the powerful prefer to hear.
