How he cheated Jacob on the wedding night: GAVE LEAH IN PLACE OF RACHEL
God's warning before he overtook Jacob: SAY NOTHING TO HIM, GOOD OR BAD
The subject was the brother of Rebekah and, when the servant of Abraham came seeking a wife for Isaac, he ran out to the man at the well, his eye on the gold, and welcomed him into the house.
Years later Jacob fled to him and served seven years for Rachel. But on the wedding night the subject gave Leah in her place, then required another seven years for Rachel, holding his nephew to hard bargains.
For twenty years Jacob served him, and the subject changed his wages ten times. Yet God prospered Jacob, and the flocks multiplied to him despite every scheme to hold him back.
When Jacob fled with his wives and flocks, the subject pursued him, angry that his household gods were gone, not knowing Rachel had hidden them. God warned the subject in a dream to say nothing to Jacob, good or bad.
The two made a covenant at Mizpah, heaping stones as a witness, and called on the LORD to watch between them. The subject kissed his daughters and grandchildren, blessed them, and returned to his place.
