The lie his servants believed about Israel's God: HE IS A GOD OF THE HILLS, NOT THE VALLEYS
How his own servant ended him: SPREAD A WET CLOTH OVER HIS FACE
The subject was king of Aram who came up with thirty-two allied kings and besieged Samaria, demanding Ahab's silver, gold, wives, and children, and boasting that the dust of the city would not fill his soldiers' hands.
But the LORD gave Ahab victory by a small force, that Israel might know He was the LORD. When the Arameans said Israel's God was a god of the hills only, they attacked in the valley, and again the LORD delivered them to show He is God everywhere.
In later days the subject besieged Samaria until there was terrible famine, but the LORD sent a sound of a great army into the Aramean camp, and they fled in the night, leaving all their supplies, and the siege was broken.
Again and again his raids were foiled, for Elisha the prophet told the king of Israel every move the subject planned, until the subject learned the prophet was the cause.
At last the subject fell sick and sent Hazael to ask Elisha whether he would recover. Elisha wept, foreseeing Hazael's cruelty, and the next day Hazael smothered the subject with a wet cloth and reigned in his place.

- To imagine God is limited to some places is to court His judgment.
- The proud boasts of the strong are broken by the word of the Lord.
- The one who exalts himself against God is undone, often from within.
