"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
You walked into the restaurant of this world and ordered freely. Pride. Lust. Envy. Deception. Self-worship. You consumed what you wanted, when you wanted, how you wanted.
And then the bill arrived.
Every sin you have ever committed is an entry on a divine ledger. Every transgression, every idle word, every corrupt thought, every act of rebellion against a holy God - recorded, itemized, and owed.
The wage of sin is death. Not maybe. Not eventually. It is the guaranteed payment due on every sin ever committed. And no human being has the currency to settle it.
"For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it."
The debt is not just large - it is infinite. Every sin is committed against an infinitely holy God. That means every sin carries infinite weight.
The bill is unpayable by any finite creature. It requires an infinite payment. It requires a God to pay what only God can owe on behalf of man.

At Calvary, Jesus did not just die a noble death. He settled the bill. The bill - your full ledger of sin - was presented to the Son of God. And He paid it. Not partially. Not symbolically. Completely.
"You were ransomed... not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot."
THE DEBT WAS YOURS.
THE LOVE WAS BOTH.
"When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, 'It is finished,' and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit."
Tetelestai. In the ancient world, this word was stamped across paid invoices. Paid in full. Account settled. Nothing more owed.
Your receipt is the righteousness of Christ. You don't re-earn what He already purchased. You don't make installment payments. The transaction is final. The account is closed.
"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast."
The bill has been paid. The only question is: will you receive the receipt?
Stop trying to pay a bill that has already been settled. Stop presenting God with your good behavior as though it could cover what only the blood of His Son could pay.
Come to the cross. Present the receipt. The account is clear.
"There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."
No condemnation. Account settled. Bill paid. Approved.
