This is the equation: Input determines output. Saturation precedes overflow.

When you soak in Scripture-when you immerse yourself in the Word, meditate on it day and night, let it saturate every corner of your mind-you don't just gain knowledge. You start dripping.

And what drips out? Not bitterness. Not judgment. Not pride. Charity. Love. The unmistakable fruit of a heart soaked in God's Word.

"Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks." - Matthew 12:34

Jesus stated a fundamental law of spiritual physics: you overflow what you're full of.

If your heart is full of anger, anger spills out. If it's full of anxiety, anxiety leaks into everything you do. If it's full of lust, lust controls your actions.

But if your heart is soaked in Scripture-if the Word has penetrated so deeply that it's become part of your thought patterns, your reflexes, your default responses-then what overflows is the character of God.

Love. Joy. Peace. Patience. Kindness. Goodness. Faithfulness. Gentleness. Self-control.

This is charity-the old English word for agape, divine love. And it doesn't come from willpower. It comes from saturation.

"Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night." - Psalm 1:1-2

Soaking isn't casual reading. It's not skimming a devotional before bed. Soaking is sustained immersion.

The Psalmist says the blessed man meditates on God's law day and night. Not once a week. Not when it's convenient. Day and night. Constantly. Obsessively. Until the Word becomes the soundtrack of your soul.

"A good person produces good out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil person produces evil out of the evil stored up in his heart." - Luke 6:45

You can tell what someone is soaking in by what drips out of them.

If you soak in social media outrage, you drip cynicism and anger. If you soak in entertainment that glorifies sin, you drip compromise and worldliness. If you soak in self-help philosophy, you drip self-reliance and pride.

But if you soak in Scripture, you drip Christ.

You drip grace when someone wrongs you. You drip truth when someone needs correction. You drip compassion when someone is hurting. You drip wisdom when someone is confused.

You can't fake this. You can't manufacture charity through behavior modification. It has to overflow from a saturated heart.

"If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal." - 1 Corinthians 13:1

Charity-agape love-is the ultimate proof that you're saturated with God's Word. Because the Word reveals the character of God, and God is love (1 John 4:8).

When you soak in Scripture, you soak in love. Not sentimental emotion. Not conditional affection. Selfless, sacrificial, covenant love.

This kind of love doesn't come naturally. It comes supernaturally-from a heart soaked in the Word of God.

Soak in Scripture. Drip charity.

If you want to love better, read more. If you want to serve better, meditate more. If you want to reflect Christ better, soak more.

The world doesn't need more people with theological knowledge who lack love. It needs people who are so saturated with the Word that they can't help but overflow with the character of God.

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God." - Colossians 3:16

When the Word dwells richly-when it soaks every part of you-what comes out is worship, wisdom, and charity.

You become a vessel that doesn't just hold the Word. You become a vessel that pours it out.

Soaking in Scripture got you dripping all this charity.

So soak. And let it drip.
