How he received the shipwrecked company: HE WELCOMED US AND LODGED US KINDLY FOR THREE DAYS
What Paul did for his sick father: HE PRAYED, LAID HANDS ON HIM, AND HEALED HIM
When the ship carrying Paul to Rome was wrecked, all aboard came safely to land on the island of Malta. Near that place lay the estate of the subject, the chief man of the island.
The subject received the storm-tossed company and showed them generous hospitality, lodging them kindly for three days while they recovered from the sea.
It happened that the father of the subject lay sick with fever and dysentery. Paul went in to him, prayed, laid his hands on him, and healed him.
When this was done, the rest of the people on the island who had diseases also came and were cured, and they honored Paul and his companions greatly, providing all they needed when they set sail.
The subject, a Gentile stranger, opened his home to shipwrecked prisoners and found his own household blessed and his father restored. His kindness to God's servant became the doorway through which healing and honor came to a whole island.
